![]() One student, wrote to me the last week of the semester to say, "In your class for once in my life I felt like I was supposed to be somewhere, wanted somewhere, and not an anomaly.” The email this student sent made me cry and was probably the best email/letter I have ever received. Several students commented at the end of the semester how safe and seen they felt in our class, and the community we created. I found myself relying on things I learned in my internship literally every class. I wanted to share something with you from this past semester I taught the first Queer History course offered by the college and the response from the students was amazing. Her awareness and practice of social justice concepts challenged me to process my biases and truly define my values. She constantly found relevant trainings for us to attend and even organized trainings for interns to co-lead. Laura Morlok was a spectacular support as a site supervisor and colleague. I got to experience a space that provided encouragement and value for everyone's perspectives, no matter their level of experience.
